Sasebo by Night

Reggie came home from work a couple of days ago saying it cleared up after the rain that he can see the moon and stars and "would you care to go to the lookout after dinner?"

It was already 9 pm when we got up to Yumihari Lookout. This is located in Saikai National Park of Sasebo, being a lookout it must be the highest point in the mountain. We've been there before during the day, which I have yet to blog about. But the view at night is short of spectacular. We arrived with a light fog which made the pictures all the more dramatic. I tried to capture the scene in the following photographs. For those of you with Facebook accounts, they're in my Sasebo by Night album. Enjoy.

I have a lot of work to do, re-creating links and re-posting some pictures that got lost in the process. Don't worry it feels like the 'blog juices' are flowing again so in my FREE TIME, I should be able to fix most everything!

Thanks a lot for the help, Eph.

I uploaded a picture of a sign in front of a museum here in Sasebo on Facebook with a caption, "Photos not allowed inside" which Mina answered with the comment above. Mina is my niece from Sunnyvale, California. Wait, you moved recently did you Mina? Anyway..

It's as if something in me has said, "It's time to go back and blog"!

Reggie and Manami got married on June 1, 2009. Donna and I stopped over Yokosuka on our way back from the US to the Philippines to attend their wedding. It's a simple, civil ceremony - actually there really was no ceremony to speak of.

It's been almost a year and we missed them. So I sent Sherwin a text message to check and see what kind of fares are available for Fukuoka/Nagasaki. Reggie and Manami have since moved from Yokosuka to Sasebo. He got transferred to manage a newly opened Chili's restaurant on base. Fortunately Sherwin found some tickets on sale through PAL so we had him book us to Japan March 29 through April 26.

We arrived at the Fukuoka airport and Reggie was already there waiting for us along with Josephine Britten, a friend I met on the Internet through our Capampangan advocacy group site ANASI. She and her husband live in Fukuoka and she ordered some Capampangan books from the HAU's CKS and we brought them for her. After getting acquainted a bit, (I've never met her before) Reggie took us to the bus stop in front of the terminal to wait for the bus for Sasebo. It took about an hour and a half to get here from the airport.

We waited for Manami to get off work and guess where we immediately went.. if you guessed the nearest sushi restaurant, you would be CORRECT!

We went home afterwards - by the way, pictures posted in this blog were all from my old CASIO 5MP digicam. Reggie got me a brand new CASIO EXILIM Z330.

WooHoo!

They have a much better place now compared to the one at Moriya Mansion in Yokosuka. Send me a message if you haven't heard of the story of Moriya Mansion, an apartment building which is older than Reggie himself. Anyway, they now have a two story apartment with 2 bedrooms and a small living room upstairs, downstairs is where the living room, kitchen, dining and batroom are located. Still not big enough compared to US standards but perfect for a couple and a child here.

The first time I visited Sasebo was when I was still in the US Navy ca. 1976. Yes, that long ago! That's why, now that we're here, everything's new for me again.

Ahh, that felt good - to be able to get away from the clutches of Facebook!
