Misc Stuff

Beelzebub! Some of my Levi’s are getting tight on me! I have to lay off on the halo-halo, ube ice cream, Boy Bawang, etc!!

Donna and I are still trying to do our early morning walks. We’re not always successful, though. During nights when there’s a good movie on cable, we try to ignore the alarm clock and sleep in the morning after! On the days that we miss our walks, we try to compensate by working on the lawn which by the way is looking a little more tamed nowadays. By the way Night at the Museum is still showing in the Malls. I'm planning on watching it this week. I'm bummed 'coz I missed Blood Diamond, now I'll have to settle for a DVD off the street! Speaking of DVD, Myrna and husband Vir were here the other day and dropped off the DVD's she borrowed and took some other ones they haven't watched. I'm in dire need of some fresh DVD's.

Talk about early morning, the weather here lately has been weird. Weird as in cold! Yes, during our walks, I would guess it’s around 71 because with a breeze, it feels much colder than in an air conditioned room. And no, we haven’t used our AC at night for a few nights now. How long it’ll stay this way, is the big question.

Before the Holidays, I came home from the mall and noticed a slight scratch on my right front bumper. Looking closer, I realized somebody hit me in the parking lot because the part of the bumper connected to the fender is slightly bent out of shape. So I showed it to my nephew Francis, who operates his body shop ‘Talyer nang Kiko’ on Lazatin Blvd. He said the damage was way too small to even make a claim to the insurance so I’m to drop the Innova off one day and he’ll have it fixed really quickly. A few days passed and I haven’t been able to drop it off. One night, on the way home, I had an incident with a tricycle on the corner of McArthur H’way and Sindalan. We basically hit (more like grazed) each other. Since we were in the middle of the intersection and we’re holding all kinds of traffic, I sort of pulled over and got out of the way. The minute I did that, the tricycle driver took off. Witnesses said I shouldn’t have pulled over. But Donna and I figured that he probably wouldn’t be able to afford to get the damage fixed anyway. So I went to see Francis again and showed the scratches by the running board below the right rear door. Again, he said it’s still not bad enough to involve the insurance. So finally Thursday last week he started working on it. My other nephew Jay (Kong Naring’s son who works for Francis) dropped it off Saturday looking like new again. I have to admit Francis does pretty good body work.

I received an eMail from my niece Charry from Novato saying her husband Steve is already here in the Philippines on vacation and that she’s arriving on Thursday the 8th. He tried to get a ride from Manila to visit us but couldn’t so I guess they’ll just try to make it together when she gets here. He flies to Mindoro today, by the way.

Yesterday my sister-in-law Leda and her kids Lera and Alvin were here to help celebrate Erika’s birthday. She turned two last Friday. Last night the new president of our homeowner’s association invited us for a short meeting at their house with dinner right afterwards. I had to go alone because Donna was playing kwaho with Leda. I got to meet some more of our neighbors.

Leda is inviting us to her place in Muntinglupa this Thursday for her birthday. Donna and I need to go to Manila to have our flights back to the US booked in March so we may just do both the same day.

The system has prevented me from uploading anymore pictures into my blog. I guess I overloaded it somehow. Eph said I’ll have to do it on Flicker (not sure what that is). But till then you’ll most likely just see text. I could still send pictures through eMail.
