When It Rains, It Pours!

As you may have read in my previous blog, it’s really heart wrenching to lose a sibling. For those of you with brothers and sisters, love them, tell them so and be thankful of all the times you're sharing together.

My brother Kong Orling and his wife were visiting their daughter in Chicago. He’s had an existing problem with clogged arteries to his heart. It was quite a difficult decision on how to break the news to him on our sister’s passing. When he finally found out from my niece Jen, he took it rather well; I’ll have to admit. But a couple of days later he exhibited symptoms similar to a heart attack; chest pains, etc. So my niece rushed him to the hospital and the staff admonished them for not taking him in sooner. It turned out he has six blockages in arteries to his heart and the only way to fix him up is through angioplasty or a heart bypass. A couple of days later, they attempted an angiogram to see if an angioplasty procedure is feasible. The surgeons found that the clogs are so bad he has to undergo a heart bypass. Last week his doctors performed a triple bypass, which went so well he didn’t require a blood transfusion. Unfortunately he developed some post surgery complications that prolonged his stay in the hospital’s ICU. This previous weekend he finally got transferred out of the ICU to a regular room and Thursday night he was discharged out of the hospital. On Sunday the 17th, I’ll be flying to Chicago one week ahead of schedule to see him. Then Donna will follow on Sunday the 23rd to attend her nursing Reunion.

Thanks everyone for your support and prayers.
