Week 5 Updates
The 2" pipe on the foreground (bottom) is going to be
our water source, there are 12 more pieces
attached to it under the ground.
Picture (top) shows the door jamb, made of
the Philippine hardwood yakal (comparable
to narra) for the front entry door.
There’s been quite a bit of progress but I’m afraid the pictures I’ve been posting just don’t do the construction a lot of justice that’s why I haven’t been posting a lot lately. But if you look close enough you will notice the changes.
Last night after I sent Donna a text message, I went and got ready for bed. A few minutes and I started to doze off. All of a sudden the power went out. Ate Pie had to call the power company to find out what’s wrong because we were the only one with no power. They concluded after their investigation (this team by the way had to use our electric fan for a tester – go figure) that the house had some faulty wiring that got overloaded with three air conditioners going on at full capacity.
With my windows wide open, I woke up at around 6 am due to the street noise below. Pareng Quir called the day before saying he and a friend will be passing by on their way to Florida Blanca to drop off stuff Donna had him bring for me. It was so hot I told Thelma to let them know I’m taking a shower just in case they come. Sure enough my hair was full of shampoo when my cell started ringing. I had to fish it out of my shorts pocket hanging by the shower door. His friend said they were in front waiting. Then I got a yell, “Uncle, you have some guests!!” I had to hurry and finish to meet them.
I had to apologize; I couldn’t even invite them in because we still didn’t have any power. After the usual pleasantries and promising to call each other, they took off.
The work gloves he brought for my workers were like gold! Kong Naring had to devise some pretty clever plan in distributing them so as not to have a mutiny on our hands since I didn’t have enough for everyone.
At 1 pm I went to attend the 2nd meeting at the Center for Kapampangan Studies in Holy Angel to finalize the welcome parade for Mon David. The date hasn’t changed. Minerva from the Governor’s office and Andy of ArtiSta.Rita were in attendance this time. It will still be held on Monday April 17. But instead of the motorcade starting at the provincial capitol and ending in Sto Tomas, it’ll now start at the radio station and will conclude at the provincial capitol.
