Post Holiday Guests - Part 3
My former office mate Sharon called the other day. She’s sent me an eMail saying she and husband Rudy will go on vacation here and that they’re scheduled to leave California Jan 19. When she called me they’re already in his hometown of Mangatarem in Pangasinan and further mentioned they might be able to drop by the house when they pick up the slaughtered pig they’ll be using for Rudy’s town fiesta celebration. Anyway.. yesterday morning her text message woke me up saying they’re already in Tarlac. Donna got up and fixed some breakfast. I was waiting for them to call back for directions but a little while later the front gate security called announcing they’re already here. Rudy said his cousin who was driving was familiar with Greenfields’ Tennis Courts somehow. Rudy and Sharon got dropped off and they were bearing ‘pasalubong’ I got a bottle of Hennessy Cognac and Donna got some lotion something or other and we got a big box of my favorite, chocolate. Yum! We had breakfast talking non-stop all the while between gulps of coffee, bacon and eggs and longanisa! After the meal we gave them a tour of the house and of course we took tons of pictures. While Donna was talking with Rudy, Sharon gave me an update on the old Goodrich: who got fired, who got hired, etc. I understand they recently hired my replacement. Sharon gave me an envelope from Barbara with an old ID of mine looking so young it seems like I was in my 20’s or something! Thanks, Barbara!
That was the good news! The bad news – all the pictures in my camera memory stick got deleted. I was trying to delete just one picture which I already downloaded and all of them got deleted somehow. Including pictures of one of my bananas starting to blossom. So this morning I quickly sent Sharon a message saying they must come back before they leave for California so I can download the pictures from her camera. Sadly she wasn’t sure they can still stop over here at our place so the quickest I’ll be able to post pictures of Sharon and Rudy’s visit here is when they get back to California! You'll just have to settle with the pictures of the flowers in our lawn for now, ok? The two bottom pictures are one of my bananas and its blossoms. The rest are all plants around the house.
We also got a text message from Mitzi, Donna’s co-worker at Davita Dialysis. They came but flew straight to Davao so they weren’t able to visit. But she said she’ll call again and will try to make it on the way back. We also learned from friends that our Komadre Belinda and husband Jun will be vacationing. They’re Daniel’s Ninang and Ninong from Cerritos. We have yet to receive a call from them though.
Donna called her work the other day and talked with everyone over there. She was given some sad news unfortunately. One former co-worker’s ill. They found a malignant tumor in one of his kidneys which was taken out and he’s now undergoing chemo. He’s about our age, if not younger.
