Mantangkub, Paclolo, Magsaysay, San Jose, OM

I woke up early the other day and I figured I might as well go out and walk so I got up and dressed. When I opened the door, it was drizzling. My other option?

Facebook of course!

And my blog.

Onnie was nice enough to drive us to this place called Mantangkub in Barangay Paclolo of Magsaysay, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. The road on the way was mostly dirt but once we arrived at Mantangkub, it was all worth it. However, we had to cross a portion of a river by foot, before getting to the picnic area. I didn't want my shoes to get wet so I took them off. Big mistake. The river bed is full of rocks and pebbles and it's a killer on the feet.

This place reminds me so much of Zion National Park in Utah with its soaring sandstone cliffs and canyons.

After lunch we walked up river until we can't anymore but we saw some kids up ahead swimming and we started waving at them. A little later, here comes a boat and they were nice enough to pick us up to check out the rest of the area. My niece, balikbayan Cindy just had to ride a carabao (water buffalo).

Mantangkub is definitely worth visiting again in the future.
