First Week Back
As expected, the first few days of our first week was spent taking care of our car's insurance, coordinating with the insurance adjuster and gathering all necessary documents. This was done while I'm driving around in the heat without air conditioning and with our jugs of water, just in case.
The day after we arrived, we had our first lunch at Tempura, our favorite Japanese restaurant in the mall. Food here is way cheaper than Japan's but of course the quality is not as high either.

We were so hungry on the way to Tempura so we had us some street food - sweet potato fries, the leftover of which we had for dessert.

When we were in Sasebo, we missed watching Clash of the Titans on base. I was surprised when we arrived here, it was still showing in SM. So after lunch, that's what we did. We had to pay double for the 3D glasses and a cup of fountain Coke Zero. A rip off, if you ask me. For some reason, the 3D effect is not what I expected. I don't think the movie was meant to be shown in 3D but they did it for obvious reasons. The movie overall wasn't bad though. Sam Worthington is hot right now starring in 3 back-to-back blockbusters, considering he was living in his car before landing a role in one of the movies he starred in.
As most of you know, it was my birthday and our 34th wedding anniversary last Friday. Shame on those who forgot but thanks to everyone for the Facebook and eMail greetings!
Francis replaced my radiator the afternoon before, just in time for me and Donna to get up early Friday, April 30th to go to the Monasterio de Tarlac to attend the 10:30 mass. It was up and back for us because we then went to Hanami, our Japanese restaurant hangout when we're in Angeles. It's located by the perimeter fence of Clark near its Friendship gate.

We then went to HAU's CKS to deliver the goodies sent by Josephine to Myra and the CKS staff. A skeleton crew greeted us (Myra, Joel and Robby) probably because; a) it's summer and kids are off school and b) a few of the members of the staff has graduated and moved on. They were happy to see us nevertheless and we updated each other with our happenings.
We then went home with Donna watching her NBA playoffs while I spent some time on FB and my blog and uploading thousands of pics into Flickr.com. After the game, we watched a DVD in the home theater choosing one from our new stash of discs courtesy of Pareng James and Reggie.
After the movie, we went and had dinner at nearby Sylvia's, went back home and watched another movie.
That's basically how we spent our Anniversary and my birthday.
To my love:
HAPPY 34th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and I hope we have at least 30 more!
Last Monday was Sto Cristo's fiesta, it's one of Guagua's barangays. We went and had a late breakfast with Atching Pie, went home took a nap and went back to have lunch with another friend from Sto, Cristo, Pat Paguio. Let me tell you a bit about Pat. First of all, Pat is not her real name and don't ask me what her real name was 'cause I don't remember. I've always known her as Pat. She says she was a fat kid and with Capampangans' habit of pronouncing the 'f' as 'p' she became known as Pat. So there..
Anyway, she's the best Capampangan cook I know, no offense to the Pineda clan of my wife who claim to be the best cooks. She has the best asadong lengua and her dinuguan is to die for. Unfortunately, all Capampangan cuisine is to die for, literally, because it's loaded with fat, cholesterol and all kinds of good stuff. Why do you think it's so good? Catering is a four letter word as far as Pat is concerned. With the Fiesta on a Monday, she starts preparing her feast the Thurday before, (yes, she's absent from school for a few days, did I fail to mention she's one of Donna's school mates?) probably because she starts serving an early morning breakfast (for her guests who come over after the morning mass), lunch, for late risers like us and dinner for everybody else. Not to mention the take out of rellenong bangus for her friends and her specialty, stuffed ampalaya for me and Donna.

The day before yesterday, we learned that friend and classmate Amanda's mom-in-law passed away. Tan's mom was 90. After visiting our friend Mel, Donna, Tonette and I went to barangay Dila-Dila in the town of Sta. Rita to pay our respects. When we arrived, after stopping several times asking for directions, Amanda's son Francis (he's one of Rach's college friends, by the way) greeted us. He said he and her Mom came early morning the day before yesterday. Tan has been here since early April.

Francis took these pictures and Tan was somewhere talking with friends and relatives. I promise I'll take their pictures and post them the next time we meet - hopefully, before they go back to the US.
Please say a little prayer for Juliana Lansang, may she rest in peace.
