The Meaning of Life
I was standing by our fence one morning, looking out at the vacant lot next door, contemplating the meaning of life - who am I kidding? I was probably thinking, “Hmm, what DVD do we want to watch after our nap today?” Anyway, I was silently thinking when this thing caught my eye.

I had the feeling that before Donna and I retired, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it just like you don’t see anything but a concrete fence, a couple of small Atis trees by the fence, some grass on a vacant lot, etc. But friends, there’s something significant about the pictures above.
You’ve heard of the saying to, once in a while, “stop and smell the roses”, and this I guess was what literally happened to me. I stopped and looked. And upon closer inspection, out of the concrete block, this plant (all 4 inches of it) somehow, by some freak of nature, sprouted, grew and has now a beautiful yellow flower blooming in all its glory. I thought it was so amazing and wonderful that I’ll blog about it before anything else.
