October in California 2

The weather forecast has not been too good for the last couple of days. Yesterday was no different so instead of going to Hollywood expecting to take gloomy pictures we just decided to take Reggie and Manami to lunch. They came over and we went to that old Thai restaurant by Cerritos Mall. It’s supposed to be owned by a Kapampangan married to guy from Thailand.

After lunch we dropped Donna off back to La Mirada so she can cook dinner while the four of us (with Dan driving) went to the Citadel Outlet stores in the City of Commerce off of the I-5. We walked around for an hour so amazed at how much renovation the place has gone through.

We then drove southwards trying to decide on the way where to go next. Right before we got to Norwalk, Reg thought about dropping by his high school buddy’s place. He hasn’t seen or heard from Fausto in a while. He lived in our neighborhood and has 4 kids. We got at their place and Reggie barely recognized their house. It turned out they added on and it looked a bit different. Fortunately Fausto, his wife Selena and all the kids were home. They’re all so glad to see each other again. Their oldest, Fausto Jr. (little Faustino as he used to be called) is Reggie’s god son and is not so little anymore.

Selena gave Reggie a bunch of the kids’ pictures along with new phone numbers and eMail address.

Instead of going to the Brea Mall as previously planned, Dan took them to the 99c Store in Norwalk where they picked up a bunch of snacks and other things. Then we went to La Mirada for their Mom’s much missed spaghetti dinner. Dan had to go somewhere and had to leave Reggie and Manami who got knocked out on the couch after dinner from all the running around.

We were going to go to Sequoia National Park today but they wanted to take Donna with us. And since she has an appointment to have her hair done, we decided to go tomorrow instead. When she’s back we’ll probably take them to Hollywood.
